The Pines Foundation, a 501(c)(3) affiliate of the Fire Island Property Owners Association and sponsor of the event, is dedicated to preserving, protecting and enhancing the quality of life in our environmentally-sensitive community of Fire Island Pines. Included in its mission is the support of cultural activities and maintenance of its Whyte Hall Community Center. Much work needs to be done to protect and enhance the community of Fire Island Pines after the ravages of recent storms, and The Pines Foundation is front and center in this effort.
Stonewall Community Foundation is the only public foundation focused on the needs of New York City’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. Since 1990, the Foundation has invested more than $16 million in over 500 organizations via donor advised funds, annual grant making, and leadership building programs. The Foundation inspires meaningful change through strategic initiatives designed to engage the community, empower leaders and invest in grassroots LGBTQ organizations across the five boroughs.
The Pines Party has donated over $1.2 million to Stonewall over the 17 year history of the event, including $50,000 from Pines Party 2015. Recent grantees funded by our donations have included:
- The Center for Anti-Violence Education (also a 2014 beneficiary!)
- Griot Circle
- The Peter Cicchino Youth Project
- The Russian-Speaking LGBT Support Group (fiscally sponsored by Project Reach)
